| | Welcome to SAINT GREGORY SOCIETY | | | The Saint Gregory Society offers a unique series of critically acclaimed recordings of Gregorian chant and polyphony by High Renaissance masters. The music is presented in the context of the Traditional Latin ("Tridentine") Liturgy. For example, in our most recent release, Solemn Mass of Easter Day, a Mass by Palestrina and motets by French composers Verdelot and Gascogne are heard along with the Gregorian chant proper "Resurrexi," and the sung versicles, prayers, and lections as actually heard at the celebrations of the traditional liturgy at Sacred Heart Church in New Haven, CT. These recordings are an ideal way properly to experience some of the world's most beautiful sacred music and to learn about the relation of music to the Western liturgical tradition. |
